Day Eleven: God Bless My Egg-Timer

Yesterday, I spoke about doing the harder tasks first. Sometimes that method of pushing past procrastination or a slump just doesn’t work so I pray for strength and grace and then set an egg-timer.

I will tell myself, “Ok Self, all you have to do is work on this dreaded project for 15 minutes. Just give me 15 minutes.” Sometimes I set the egg-timer for half hour or hour.  If it’s a really involved research and writing project with complicated facts, I will set an alarm on my phone for two hours. My little egg-timer has gotten me through some serious rough patches, writers blocks, creativity blocks. It forces me to stop focusing on how I feel about the project and forces me to actually do something about it

So bust out your egg-timer, phone alarm, actual alarm clocks, or whatever method you can manage of timing yourself. Start today! Start right now! Do not let fear, worry, or doubt prevent you from moving forward. Look up for strength and grace, “Dear God, please bless this egg-timer!” Then get going. I’m cheering you on!!!

  1. Thank you for reminding me about timers! I learned about setting a timer for 15 minutes from the Flylady. She is wonderful for dealing with household chores. She says "you can do anything for 15 minutes." I am going to dig out my little timer and start using it again. Have a great weekend Judith!
